The present welfare system is riddled with abuses and tax reform such as the fair tax should be strongly considered and implemented. Welfare should be administered sparingly and locally, where those needy recipients are known.

Re: Nashua Telegraph Blogs

Crow:

Thank you for taking the time to clarify your AP comments. Like most community newspapers, as I'm sure you can understand, we are dependent on outside sources for national and international news: AP, Los Angeles Times/Washington Post News Service, Scripps Howard, etc. While we try to choose these stories with the appropriate care, we do not have the time or the resources to fact check these stories prior to publication. For what it's worth, the number of complaints I've received over the accuracy of these articles is pretty small. Finally, while you are certainly entitled to your opinion, I can assure you that we do not "cherry-pick" letters based on a liberal vs. conservative bias. Besides, most of the letters we publish are based on local issues and events that don't necessarily fall into either category. That said, thank you for taking the time to reply to my entry and for signing up as a member of our Readers Advisory Network. I'm sure we'll "talk" again.

Re: Nashua Telegraph Blogs

Also, I would like to point out that while I was grouped with the non "complimentary" replies, I do not share the sentiments of those below where I was quoted (although "The Telegraph" most certainly has contributions from those with Bush Derangement Syndrome, and unthinking liberal bias is not uncommon. I'm nearly certain the editorial page cherry-picks liberal letters from conservative letters 7 times out of 10, too.) . Like any true American, and in the spirit of our Founders, I distrust and dislike government. My point was "The Telegraph" needs to pay more attention to ensuring accurate reporting before thinking of being a watchdog, and using the AP wires doesn't help.

Re: Nashua Telegraph Blogs

"One reader took us to task for publishing the Associated Press' "disingenuous reporting," though it was unclear what prompted that assessment."

Start here: http://camera.org/index.asp...
