But only those comments should be pulished which were related to eye catching or big news and the comments which were giving a constructive feedback, does not matter positive or negative.

Re: Saturday To Feature Online Comments

Many didnt agree, I know I wouldnt. As you may have noticed, we gave it a name last week ("You Said It") and plan to run it on a weekly basis in that slot, at least for the near future. So thanks again for all your comments -- even if you didn't agree with the concept.

Nick Pappas
Editorial Page Editor

Re: Saturday To Feature Online Comments

I keep wondering why the Telegraph keeps getting factual data wrong when it comes to the Broad Street Parkway. Last Friday the Telegraph main Editorial "Tamposi should vote on Parkway" gave slanted and misleading information to the public. It stated that the Tamposi land was near the Parkway. The fact is that the Tamposi land from the back of Dairy Queen on Broad Street to the bridge on Fairmount Street is not "NEAR" but is the land that will be the Parkway. Tehe Telegraph also stated that people had made accusations against Alderman Tamposi but did not publis those alledged accusation or who made them.
Yesterday the Telegraph ran another article about a vote for having an Economic development analysis for the Parkway. In that article yet another misstatement that the Parkway would connect to downtown. The fact is the Parkway does not connect to downtown. To get to downtown from the end of the Parkway you have to go through 7 blocks of dense city neighborhoods which will connect you to the intersection of Kinsley and Main Streets.
A month ago theTelegraph reporter reported that the city of Nashua total bonded debt was 18.1 Million when it is over 150 million. What she reported was the amount of debt payment service per year, big difference.

Summary why is it that the Telegraph can't check its facts and get the informatio right so that the citizens get the proper information.

Re: Saturday To Feature Online Comments

Nick, I don't like this idea. One of the reasons I subscribe to "The Telegraph" is that I value what columnists, reporters, and editors consider to be newsworthy.

The "Telegraph" has already made it easy for readers to comment on news and opinion.

I'm much more interested in the opinions of your syndicated columnists, particularly because they provide an informed and balanced counterweight to your editorials. Don't get me wrong, as a progressive, I am generally in agreement with you editorial positions. But it's healthy to have responsible conservative opinions as well.

So I vote no. Please keep the syndicated op-eds.

Kirby F. Being selective will be the difficult part for you tho' - some of the stuff in the forums can be just folks parroting the talking heads, some of it is just mean-spirited without cause, but some of it is brilliant. I vote yes, and best of luck in bringing our voices to print.

Re: Saturday To Feature Online Comments

re :St Sarah of Wasilla I truly witnessed a revelation last week in Minnesota. Who would ever thought that the Republican party would look so favorably at a 17 year old pregant teenager and her hockey hunk boyfriend/fiancee? Was she absent on the Abstinence class day? Good thing Bristol was not from Gloucester, Ma!! BTW,will the wedding be "shotgun" so the child be not be illegitimate? Can you imagine what the Family values crowd's reaction would have been if Obama's daughters were older and found themselves as the bible says "heavy with child"? Just another Ho from the hood!! Also did anyone notice how the baby Trig was passed around like some stage prop so Sarah can show how she is right with the "right" The decision that Governor Palin faced, concerning her child's special needs and the decision to carry the baby to term is a difficult and gut- wrenching one. It is a deeply personal decision and I respect her decision, as I would had she chosen an abortion which would have been her legal right. In Gov Palin's ideal world, a woman would not have this right for her and her family to make a private choice. I wish Trig Palin and his soon to be nephew a good and happy life. They deserve better.

Re: Saturday To Feature Online Comments

I have to wonder if the Telegraph is trying to kill it's print edition, at least for those of us in your western coverage area. The overlap with the Cabinet has already forced me to cut my delivery to Sundays only. The shrinking news hole and the good news stories with no substance already have me thinking I should just stop delivery and now I have to factor in the merge of web and print editions.

Re: Saturday To Feature Online Comments

I value the op-ed pieces, but feel this would be a good addition to the paper. I'd rather read some well considered opinions of local folks than a distant drum being beaten by a syndicated columnist. Therefore, I support this new feature as long as you get an adequately large field of comments from which to choose.
